Steve (Whitey) White

Steve White known as Whitey to his friends has been one of the best drummers around for a long time. He started at such a young age, after being given a drum from his uncle when Steve was eight years of age. I had the pleasure of meeting Steve back in 1985 when he came up to Liverpool with his two friends Steve Sydelknick and Gary Otoole to join me in playing drums for a 36 hour non stop drum marathon called Drums Over The Mersey.

I am glad to say I have stayed friends with Steve and attend his drum clinics with some of my students. If you go to any drum clinic sometimes you can feel intimidated. At Steve's drum clinic's everything is explained in detail and he talks about the great drummers who have over the years influenced him. I have selected 6 of the Best of songs that feature Steve's great drumming they are as follows.

Sunflower                                         Paul Weller

Shout To The Top                              The Style Council

Broken Stones                                   Paul Weller

Your The Best Thing                           The Style Council

You Do Something To Me                    Paul Weller

The Changing Man                              Paul Weller

There are many more great songs that Steve has played drums on. I sent a message to all of my drumming friends just telling them that I now Manage a very busy Youth Centre. I also asked them if they could send me some drum sticks I would pass them onto the young drummers. Steve very kindly invited me to his house in London and gave me a Blue Sparkle Premier Gen X drum kit with 3 Bass Drums 2 Floor Tom's 1 Hanging Tom and a selection of Zildjian cymbals. To work with the many youngsters that come to my Youth Centre to learn how to play drums. If you would like to know more about Steve White then please go to his website at www.whiteydrums.com
