The Tamla Motown Record label had many Hit records. The studio was based in Detroit where the record label was based. The rhythm section had a large roster of rotating members that included drummers Benny Benjamin, Uriel Jones, and Richard "Pistol" Allen. These guy's played drums on most of the Hit records. They were unknown for years. The finally got the recognition that they rightly deserved thanks to the book and film called Standing in The Shadow Of Motown. Marvin Gaye started his career off as a Session drummer at Tamla Motown and he can be heard playing drums on the great record by Martha Reeves called Dancing In The Streets.
