Joey Jordison

For a man who was recently voted as the greatest drummer of the past 25 years by the Rhythm magazines readers. Joey Jordison is one superb player. He has taken the art of double bass drum playing to a new level. Joey has spent a long time developing his craft and playing style with his 8 friends from a quite place called Iowa.

Joey says not much goes on at Iowa so we decided to put Slipknot together. The band have gone from stength to strength and are by far one of the best live bands on the festival circuit. When Joey is not keeping himself busy as he is a main writer with Slipknot as well as also doing producing. The great man wworks with other people and stepped in for Lars Ulrich in Metallica.

Joey played the Download Festival sharing the drum duties with one of his best friends Dave Lombardo. Between these two superb drummers Metallica's performance was superb I was told. Joey likes to keep himself busy and has played over the years with some great bands including his other band Murderdolls. He is at present in the studio with his new band simply called Scar The Martyr. For this band Joey has recorded the guitar parts, played all of the drumming and is producing the bands album. All of the people on this album were hand picked by Joey. Joey says that Scar The Martyr has taken him 18 months to put together and get to where they are now in the studio recording their debut album.

Amongst every generation of drummers there is an elite group of players, that rise above the crowd to define their era and inspire the next generation of youngsters to get their parents to invest in a drumkit for them. Joey Jordison has become a drumming Icon as all of todays youngsters look up to him as well as his peers in the music business. I recently heard that there was a scramble amongst photographers when they heard that Joey and his band Slipknot had arrived backstage at one of their gigs. The photographers were all keen to get a photo of Joey ahead of the bands gig. You may have noticed that Joey Jordison has also kept himself busy designing the great black drumkit for Pearl drums.
