He would change his name to Ringo as he always wore plenty of rings on his fingers. Ringo played drums for Rory Storm and the Hurricanes who were one of the biggest bands to come out of Liverpool. Ringo would become friends wwith John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. When it was decided by George Martin who was producing the Beatles records that the Beatles drummer at that time Pete Best was not up to the standard for recording. Ringo was the obvious choice to replace Pete and join The Beatles . This decision to replace Pete Best didn't go down too well with the fan's of the Beatles as Pete Best was very popular. It was the Beatles appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in America that made them so popular in the U S A. Everyone wanted them to tour and the Ludwig drum company had to take on more staff as every young drummer wanted the same Ludwig drum kit that Ringo used. Ringo was using Zildjian cymbals and the same happened with the company as everyone wanted to get the same sound as  Ringo.

Ringo Starr has inspired generations of drummers around the world.
