Hal Blaine talking about his time as one of the very best studio drummers around. I read his book called Hal Blaine's Wrecking Crew its a must have for any drummer. Hal was in so much demand as a studio drummer that he was awarded a Gold Disk for the hit records that he played drums on. They were many Hal Blaine has played on 38 number- 1 singles, 150 top-10's and many more hit records. Hal played drums on many of the Carpenters hits, most of Glen Campbell's hits, some of  The Beach Boy's hits. Hal has played on hits with Frank Sinatra, Strangers In The Night. Nancy Sinatras These boots were made for walking. The Mama's and Papa's, California Dreamin. The Byrds, Hey Mr Tamborine Man. Simon and Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Water. Elvis Presley, Can't Help Falling in Love With You. Scott McKenzies, Sanfransico. Plus many many more hits Hal said that a typical day for him would start with a session or two in the morning followed by a quick lunch, then maybe one or two sessions in the afternoon followed by recording the soundtrack to a movie early evening. Sometimes Hal would be working in the studios late into the night when he was working with Phil Spector. Hal had such a big influence on many drummers including Chad Smith, Jim Keltner and the late Jeff Porcaro.
